چکیده مقاله:
Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) is a potential candidate species for rearing in pond system in Iran because of its fast growth rate, ability to adapt to varying environmental conditions and its demand in domestic as well as export markets. Hence, growth parameters, survival and body composition of Asian seabass (20.70±0.36 g) was investigated. Experiment was conducted in three ponds In Choebde, Abadan with 3500 fish per pond. Diets were fed to fish five times daily until satiation for 135 days. Temperature and salinity were maintained at 27.36°C, 18.66 ppt respectively, while dissolved oxygen did not fall below 5.7 mg L−1. At the end of the trial, final weight 474.71±7.85 g, FCR 0.98±0.02, SGR 2.29±0.03, PER 2.30±0.05 % and survival 85% was obtained. Also, protein and lipid of body composition was 21.98±0.60 and 1.99±0.09 percent, respectively. Results show that Asian seabass can be ideal aquaculture candidate species in Khuzestan province.

متن کاملAnalysis of Stress-Responsive Transcriptome in the Intestine of Asian Seabass (Lates calcarifer) using RNA-Seq
Identification of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and regulated pathways in response to stressors using a whole-genome approach is critical to understanding the mechanisms underlying stress responses. We challenged Asian seabass with lipopolysaccharide (LPS), Vibrio harveyi, high salinity and fasting, and sequenced six cDNA libraries of intestine samples using Roche 454 RNA-seq. Over 1 mi...
متن کاملMorpho-histological characterisation of the alimentary canal of an important food fish, Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer)
Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) is a food fish of increasing aquaculture importance. In order to improve our understanding on the digestive system and feeding of this species, morphological and histological features of the gut were studied. Morphologically, the Asian seabass gut is defined by a short and muscular esophagus, well-developed stomach and comparatively short intestine. Mucous secre...
متن کاملCharacterization of the Functional Domain of β2-Microglobulin from the Asian Seabass, Lates calcarifer
BACKGROUND β2-Microglobulin (β(2)M) is the light chain of major histocompatibility class I (MHC I) that binds non-covalently with the α heavy chain. Both proteins attach to the antigen peptide, presenting a complex to the T cell to be destroyed via the immune mechanism. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS In this study, a cDNA sequence encoding β(2)M in the Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) was ide...
متن کاملIdentification and Characterization of 63 MicroRNAs in the Asian Seabass Lates calcarifer
BACKGROUND MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play an important role in the regulation of many fundamental biological processes. So far miRNAs have been only identified in a few fish species, although there are over 30,000 fish species living under different environmental conditions on the earth. Here, we described an approach to identify conserved miRNAs and characterized their expression patterns in differen...
متن کاملPrimary analysis of repeat elements of the Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) transcriptome and genome
As part of our Asian seabass genome project, we are generating an inventory of repeat elements in the genome and transcriptome. The karyotype showed a diploid number of 2n = 24 chromosomes with a variable number of B-chromosomes. The transcriptome and genome of Asian seabass were searched for repetitive elements with experimental and bioinformatics tools. Six different types of repeats constitu...
